Connecticut Drunk Driving Laws

Drunk Driving Laws: Connecticut, Penalties, Summary of Laws, Arrests, Offense

Connecticut Drunk Driving Laws, United States, USA on CT.gov's website

Personally, after going over the drunk driving laws and punishments in Connecticut I noticed something I find quite disturbing:
CGS § 53a-56b establishes the crime of manslaughter in the second degree with a motor vehicle. A person commits this offense when, while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or any drug, he causes the death of another person as a consequence of the effect of the alcohol or drugs. The penalty is a prison term of up to 10 years, or a fine of up to $ 10,000, or both. CGS § 53a-60d establishes the crime of assault in the second degree with a motor vehicle. A person commits the offense when, while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, he causes serious physical injury to another person as a consequence of the effect of the alcohol or drugs. The penalty is a prison term of up to five years, or a fine of up to $ 5,000, or both. The law defines a “serious physical injury” as one that creates a substantial risk of death, or causes serious disfigurement, serious impairment of health or serious loss or impairment of the function of any bodily organ.

Drunk Drivers in CT.

It is amazing, I think to mice elf, "People are so insecure, so wrapped up in their own bullsnot, they care so little about their fellow persons, their neighbors. So many people these days, driving SUVs with a false-sense of security; figure they're in a big vehicle, they're much safer than anyone else, therefore they pay less attention to what is going on around them, naturally. If you have ever ridden a bicycle for a main method of transportation, especially in a rural area, you'll quickly notice how almost every person in a car will not yield to you, give you passage, or anything one would expect should happen in a meeting of two persons. A big, "HOWEVER" though when you take and put them on a bicycle. People honk their horns, yell out of car windows; they can peel out and speed away, without having to face someone they knowignly just offended. Call them out on it, catch them and they'll be playing stupid in a heart-beat. If everyone NEEDED to get a ride in a few days, I'm sure all of those needs would be met. Do we really need 10 billion cars on our planet? It ends up, oil companies and car companies are making a killing and not caring what damage their products do to people or the planet / environment. Seriously, it is truly necessary for everyone to own 1.5 cars??
