Spoiled teenage kids and their attitudes

What is the deal with these kids lately? Playing an online game like Team Fortress 2, these kids say the 'darndest' things. It is so obvious many of them are insecure, selfish, spoiled brats. Not to say most other people aren't insecure, because we all are, about something, the way we look, act, our weight. I try to teach kids right from wrong. I don't try to influence them and make them believe my opinion is true, rather, I try to open their eyes and their minds and help them understand how life is around them. I've seen kids talking crap to other gamers and I've seen those getting picked on, defending themselves.

Why would anyone make fun of someone else?

  • They are jealous
  • They are insecure
  • They are self centered
  • They want attention
  • All of the above
Well, think about it. Why would you make fun of someone? Aside from goofing around with friends, having a good time, what is the reason? To make them look bad? Maybe if they are a bad person, pointing it out could help them or at least warn others, but seriously... and that is one thing many more people could benefit from knowing and understanding.
Next time someone gives you a hard time in a game, call them out. Ask what compels them to put someone else down, attempting to make themselves look better. Tell them you understand people are insecure and many put others down, looking for attention. Some people choose to make fun of others to get noticed, while other people say goofy things and try to be creative. Then try it. Say something silly and people may notice. Birds of a feather flock together and soon you may have more friends of intelligence, rather than people who'll put you down when given a chance to show-off and get noticed.
