Does everyone really need a car?

Seriously what is the deal? The speed limit in front of my home is 25 miles per hour, yet I doubt a dozen people drove by here today, doing the speed-limit or less. People no longer feel that driving is a luxury, they feel they deserve, or should have a car regardless of their driving history. The only reason so many people have cars these days is because they've been conditioned into thinking a car is the "whatever" thing. The only reason so many people have cars is because for the past so-many years, someone has been making a lot of money from the sale of cars and the oil they burn. C'mon, people, do you REALLY need a car?

Seriously, do you REALLY NEED a car? I bet 99% of all people, in one day, could get a ride, rather than drive their own vehicle... ok, wait maybe 99 percent is too high, how about 80% ??
