Video Game Companies' Greed

Video-Game Companies and their profits

I find it sad and annoying that game companies, like many other companies, seem to care less about their customers and more about what will make them money. Years ago, companies would aim to impress their customer but these days it seems the other way around. The thing is, without customers, these companies would not exist, but they are disconnected from them, able to sell through retailers or online, they never even really actually "see" the customer. Like many other companies, they are driven by money and greed. They're launching a new game, it seems they try to make their game with the latest technology rather than making the game fun to play. Seems they are more interested in impressing people and going with the latest trend, than to create the most enjoyable environment. In fact, years ago when I worked with a mail-order video game company, I had met with a number crunching, marketing guy that explained how getting new customers makes more money than selling to existing customers and we should factor that into our marketing campaigns. I understand that, in regards to making a profit, but most people and companies work to "maximize profits" and they cross the line, in my eyes. What is wrong with not making a huge profit, instead, having a huge customer base and all of them happy because prices are cheap and gameplay is great??

Midway Executives get freakin' greedy

After reading an article on GamePolitics.com about Midway's Greed, it makes me wonder about the array of scams and crap the U.S. Government must deal with and how much time is lost, keeping them from focusing on real issues in our country.
